Post by Retro GuyPost by W.DockeryPost by Retro GuyPost by JordyPost by George J. (George J. Dance)Are you reading and posting on NovaBBS, Jordy? If so, take a look at the
headers (the 5 lines above the post). The second one, "newsgroups",
controls where your message gets posted. Notice how they appear, eg.
alt.arts.poetry.comments,rec.arts.poems
(name of group written in full in lower case, just a comma (no spaces)
between groups).
If you're making a new post, the default there will be the group you're
posting from; so you have to write in the other groups there yourself.
You can write in up to 5 groups and I think (though I haven't tested it)
they all have to be groups NovaBBS carries. Otherwise, the message won't
post and you'll get a warning; just edit the line and try posting again,
and it should work.
Will give it a try, thanks George 🙏
As an added note, if you post to one group, then post to another group
the same content, it will not work. You will see the second post on this
site (novabbs), but it will not propagate across Usenet.
It's important to post to both groups at the same time, using the method
described by George above.
I think it's been working for me.
What happens if you make the same post separately into another group,
within a specific period of time, it will appear here just fine, but it
will not travel to the rest of Usenet.
This is because my backend Usenet server, i2pn2.org, will block it.

The above post goes fine into rec.arts.poems, but the same article was

The article will appear on novabbs, but it won't go anywhere else.
That would've been me. I've been multiposting all my PPB: threads to
aapc and RAP for years -- first to keep the trolls on RAP off the
threads on aapc (when RAP was infested) and later to keep the trolls on
aapc off the threads on RAP (when their trolls moved into aapc). I never
posted the same pose enough to come near the spam threshold, but I can
understand why (because of the threshold) you want to discourage
multiposting.
Since most of the trolls seem to have left us when google groups stopped
supporting usenet, it looks safe to start crossposting again. So I'll do
that with today's PPB post.
Thanks as always for your information.
